We Drove Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way | Van Life

Welcome to Part 1 of our Wild Atlantic Way camper van adventure! 🇮🇪🚐

After catching the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin in our camper van Tilly, we set off on one of the road trips we’ve dreamed of doing for years – driving the Wild Atlantic Way from south to north.
Before reaching Ireland’s famous west coast, we made a special stop in Wexford, where Ryan’s family name, Whitty, originates. It felt only right to visit before beginning our adventure!
From there, the real road trip begins…
Our first stop on the Wild Atlantic Way was the breathtaking Mizen Head, and honestly, it completely blew us away. If this was only the beginning, we couldn’t imagine what the rest of Ireland had in store for us! Along the way, we discovered the beautiful Ballydonegan Beach before spending our first night in Bantry.
The adventure continued with one of Ireland’s most scenic drives over Healy Pass, followed by a visit to the incredible waterfall at Gleninchaquin Park. We wandered through the colourful town of Kenmare before ending the day watching the waves at the stunning Derrynane Beach.
On day three, we explored Ballinskelligs Beach, treated ourselves at Skelligs Chocolate, stood on the dramatic Kerry Cliffs, relaxed at Rossbeigh Beach, and finally arrived in Killarney National Park, where we’ll continue our adventure in Part 2.
If you’re planning an Ireland road trip, travelling by camper van, or simply looking for travel inspiration, we hope this series helps you discover just how incredible the Wild Atlantic Way really is.
