Today I wanted to sit down, enjoy the porch, share the fur babies, and answer some of the questions many of you have been asking about this off-grid journey.
How far is the access road?
How will I get out during bad weather?
What happens in an emergency?
How much does building a life like this actually cost?
The truth is… going remote comes with tradeoffs.
My access road is 1.5 miles long.
The property is secluded.
The lifestyle requires planning.
You can’t always just jump in the vehicle and run to town whenever you want.
But that is part of the choice.
Living this way requires preparation, patience, problem solving, and understanding exactly what you’re signing up for.
I’m working on better access, planning for winter, improving the cabin, preparing supplies, and building a life that gives me peace and freedom.
This journey hasn’t been easy.
Things take longer.
Things cost more.
Problems show up that you never expected.
But every day is another step closer.
