OUR STORY:
Building an off grid homestead in the wilds of Southern Portugal
We’re Gemma and Filipe. A small family on a big journey; together we’re transforming over 25 acres of abandoned rural land in South Portugal. With the aim of creating an off grid homestead and a more self sufficient way of living.
It’s now about us moving onto our land full time and starting to bring our epic vision to life. A vision that is perhaps veering into fantasy in all it’s bold, colourful glory – but hey, thinking small is not so much fun – right?
Join us as we build cabins from pallets, restore an old ruin (once a farmhouse), regenerate the soil, build a damn to collect rain water, plant as many trees and flowers as we can, and learn all about life with chickens and other animals- all of which, is very far from the city life we not so long ago left behind.
We’ve started this channel for several reasons; we want to connect and learn with like minded community and to keep a diary/record of our progress- keeping us on track, and we would love it if our channel grew and inspired enough people to help us out with the challenges of choosing this path.
