Making An Abandoned Off Grid Tiny House A Home

We thought the biggest change in our lives would be moving from our Tiny Island home to A Tiny Home were live was about living big with less. But we could not be more wrong. Find out why Jason spent a life changing month in hospital. And Yvonne heads back to the island to bake.

How all this happened:
Welcome to our little self-sufficient homestead above the snowline. This is where we, Jason & Yvonne, tell the story of how we’re living big in a tiny house. We bought an off grid abandoned farm/homestead/smallholding (whatever you want to call it) in the North of Scotland. Join us as we attempt to bring the tiny home and land back to life again. Follow us as we move towards living a simpler, slower, mortgage and debt free life. All so that we can be in more control of the everyday life.

It all started on a small Scottish island over a cup of tea with a farmer, during which we ended up adopting a small flock of orphan lambs. It wasn’t planned but we were determined to look after them and give them long and happy lives. We didn’t own any land for them to live on, so we needed a plan.

After a long search we finally found an amazing opportunity to buy a disused smallholding on top of a hill in the North of Scotland. We moved our little flock on to the land. And so our off grid, slow living, debt free journey begins, as day-by-day we make the tiny home and land liveable again.
