It’s hard to imagine The Linhay – pronounced Lin-hee – as just three crumbling walls, given its splendid restoration. Natural textures abound, with slate in the open-plan kitchen and lovely oak floors, plus a proper loo. Despite this it’s gloriously off-grid: you’re surrounded by acres of farmland and screened by woods, the only sound the babbling brook and the coo of a wood pigeon.
